dog essentials

hello all, welcome to my site where i hope to help new dog owners with dog essential advice.

this is my dog blaze this summer out and about having a great time running around.

she is a german-shepard, rottweiler mix, a rescue dog i got when she was 2 months old, spayed and tattooed already.

if you are not set on a specific breed, rescue dogs are a great choice because you're giving a home and friendship to a dog that needs it the most, and they come spayed/neutered, and close to potty trained if not already potty trained.

she was a bit food finicky after trying a few grocery store brands, i switched her to Orajen, the main problem with regular brand dog food is they use fillers like corn and wheat which aren't great for dogs. when you look at the ingredients on the back the first 5 should be meat products not wheat and corn. Orajen is 75% meat products and 25% vegetables/fruit and can be found at any pet store and most vet clinics and it's not much more expensive if at all than regular store food

the single most important action every new puppy owner needs to do is properly have your new dog socialized, most vet clinics or big pet stores offer some sort of puppy classes.
as you know your puppy has very sharp baby teeth, its their first learning tool essential for good life behavior, through it they learn bite inhibition as they play with other puppies in the class. they quickly learn trough play with other puppies how hard they can bite each other without hurting the other dog. a well socialized dog is happy to to meet other dogs and people.
